Oak Class looked amazing in their costumes and enjoyed telling us about their characters.

First we gathered together to read extracts from teachers books, the children had to guess which book belonged to which adult – we had great fun!

Next we took part in a book trail, we had to find the book and record the number, we had lots of discussions about the picture books. We also made masks with a theme of our favourite book.

In the afternoon we were very lucky to attend Booka’s Big Book Event at Oswestry School. Here, we got to meet the authors Johnny Duddle and Alex Milway – we are fans of the Jolly Roger Pirates. The authors talked about their books, read some extracts and had an illustrator off. We then got to ask questions.

A wonderful day had by all and the children’s behaviour was exemplary.
