Our Key Stage 1 Reading Scheme is colour banded. It includes books from a variety of published schemes, such as Oxford Reading Tree, Rigby Rockets, Ruth Miskin’s ‘Superphonics,’ Heinemann Blue Bananas, Young Puffins, and Usborne Young Reading. Children will be given 2 books at a time and with a wide selection of books to choose from I’m sure they will not be disappointed.

This runs alongside our systematic phonics programme for teaching phonics and reading which is based on the DFES ‘Letters and Sounds’ documentation. We aim for our phonics delivery to be fun and engaging, working through each phase of sounds and learning spelling patterns which introducing elements of SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar).

Children are also members of ‘Teach your Monster to Read’. Your child’s login details are stuck inside their reading records. Children can access it on any device and will be using it in school as well as having the opportunity at home.
