SATS in KS1

The SATS assessments in Key Stage 1 are for children in year 2 class, they are also known as the National Curriculum Tests. The assessment is marked by the teacher and along with their knowledge of the child in the classroom will make a judgement of how your child is progressing in reading, writing and maths.

There are 3 outcomes for assessment:

  • working towards the expected standard
  • working at the expected standard
  • working at greater depth within the expected standard

The results of the assessments will be shared with you in the format of a scaled score. Scaled score means an average mark for the age group, for example if a child was to score 100 this would mean they have achieved the expected standard.

More information can be found in this helpful document published by the DfE (2019)
